AAEON Technology will introduce the SBC-598, an all-in-one single board computer solution supporting the Intel Pentium MMX, the AMD K6, and the Cyrix 6X86MX. The SBC-598 targets the industrial PC market which requires upgraded CPU performance (e.g., Pentium MMX-233) and the expansion capability to drive more peripheral cards. The SBC-598 can be integrated in various computer systems such as Computer Telephony Integration (CTI), one of the fastest growing segments of the computer hardware industry, and servers of all varieties including: network, email, web, and DNS servers, among others. In these markets, the CPU card is central for these systems and the SBC-598 provides a high performance and expandable CPU card with increased reliability.
The four onboard bi-directional high drive chips increase the number of peripheral cards that can be supported, thereby increasing peripheral expansion options. The SBC-598's onboard CPU temperature monitoring system is designed to protect the board from high temperature damage, and can automatically take measures to reduce CPU temperature when overheated, such as automatically reduce the CPU frequency. The SBC-598's EIDE interface also supports the UltraDMA/33 standard which is capable of transfer rates up to 33MB/sec. Additionally, the onboard 32-pin DIP socket is reserved for the M-Systems DiskOnChip 2000 series: a solid state disk with capacities ranging from 2MB to 72MB. The DiskOnChip is an attractive alternative to the traditional hard disk because of its superior reliability.
