- Withstands high breakout torque: tests under bottom hole temperatures ranging from 50 Celsius through 400 Celsius showed Barklok withstood greater torque than a standard joint welded in three places with 2 in. beads.
- Easy mixing: The formulation of Bakerlok ensures stable consistency to permit mixing under a variation of temperatures existing in the field i.e., from 9 to 115 Fahrenheit.
- Ample "potlife" after mixing: The selection of the chemicals (catalyst and compound) in Barkerlok provides a "potlife" in excess of one hour; even at temperatures of over 100 Fahrenheit.
- Unaffected by vibration: At 400 Celsius Bakerlok was subjected to a steady breakout torque for 8 hours white under continuous vibration from a 6lb. Air hammer. Breakout torque was increased until six times the 3,300ft-lb makeup torque finally broke the joint.
- High lubricity: Test were made using Bakerlok on one side of a standard coupling and API modified thread dope on the other into the coupling. For the same amount of torque, the joint with cooler than the joint lubricated with standard thread dope.
- Leakproof seal: Joints made up with Brkerlok using standard toque were tested with water pressures in excess of the list bursting strength of the casing-without any signs of leakage.
