The XHR Series was design and developed in 1993. It was created to primarily address the needs of laboratory environment and general industry request for a 1000 Watt power supply with Power Factor Correction (PFC). Universal AC input lets you use line voltages around the world without adding options or changing switchs. A major achievement was the management of heat during full power with a 90Vac minimum input at a 40 Celsius ambient temperature. No other manufacturer has yet been able to accomplish this goal, given the size and form factor limitations of the mechanical design. Xantrex has contract with the US Marine Corps to supply over 2000 slightly modified XHR 40-25 units which will be delivered during 1996 and 1997.
